About me
Therapy: I am a licensed Psychologist providing services for individuals, couples, families, and groups. I use an integrative approach to
therapy based on Humanistic principles and incorporating techniques from cognitive
behavioral and mindfulness-based therapy as well as other modalities. I see
therapy as a collaborative effort and strive to provide a safe, open, and
non-judgmental atmosphere in order to promote change.
Sport Psychology: I truly enjoy working with athletes and helping them reach their full potential. I have experience working with individual athletes, sports teams, coaches, athletic trainers and other members of the athletics profession. I have co-facilitated Injured Athletes Support Groups and taught undergraduate courses in Applied Sport Psychology. My main research interests focus on addictions among athletes as well as coping with injuries, and my dissertation focused on the relationship between competitiveness and addictive behaviors (exercise addiction, disordered eating, and alcohol use) in college athletes.
Diversity & Multiculturalism: I am very passionate about issues related to diversity & multiculturalism and
see this as another important way of building connections in our lives. I helped plan a Diversity Conference during my graduate training, served as an Ally during my internship, and completed SafeZone while working for the College of Charleston.
Personal: I recently moved back to the capital region where I first received my degree. My love for traveling & exploring new cultures has led me to live in many different places across the country, including Utah (where I completed my internship) and Los Angeles (where I completed my postdoctoral fellowship). In my spare time I enjoy spending time with friends, family, and my dog, Finn.
